Greetings from Yorkshire County, England, home of Yorkshire pudding and the Yorky terrier. The tour is going well, we're having a blast trampsing through the ports of Scandinavia to the beaches in Italy.
We have ground-breaking, earth-shattering news to share with you--
This November, for ten shows throughout the northeast, and southeast US, we will be going on tour supporting one of the heroines of folk and country music, the great Emmylou Harris. It's going to be a memorable tour, and we wanted to let you to know first.
You can see the schedule and buy tickets for one of the Emmylou shows here
For now, we're off to Scotland for the next few days.
Ahoy! Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh!
See you at the shows, friends!

August 23rd, 2010 HELLO
Dear friends,
We're in Grongingen, The Netherlands for show number thirteen of our European roust. We wish you could be here. It's been cheap wine and fair skies. Also a bit of tire slashing and debauchery, but it seems that's all in the job. Wherever you may be, we're eager to see you further down this road and sing some songs with you. Here's wishing you health and joy,

April 14th, 2010 LUPO'S SHOW WILL BE FREE with DONATIONS TO BENEFIT RI FLOOD RECOVERY
Our tour was way out west when we heard about the flooding. It was a dry but helpless feeling to be so far away. Mat's mother's had the idea I think to turn Lupo's into a benefit show. A good idea! People can donate if they like or just come into Lupo's for free, which is pretty unusual. We are excited to come back home for the show, and also hopeful for the dryness of the gear in our basement.
-Ben Knox Miller
Fellow Providence bands Tallahassee and The 'Mericans will join the band when they return home to play Lupo's next Wednesday, April 21st. The price of admission for the night will now simply be "donate what you wish," with proceeds going to the
United Way's Rhode Island Flood Recovery Fund. If you have already purchased tickets and would like to be refunded, they will be refunded at point of purchse. You can also waive your refund and the money will go straight to the fund.
Please come out for a night of Providence music to benefit a Rhode Island cause.

March 30th, 2010 HEALTHCARE
Paste is featuring musician's responses to the healthcare bill here. Ben wrote the following:
"I've been following this debate with unhealthy obsession. It's a common-sense bill that protects basic human dignities. I am incensed with the scared republican obstructionists that have been fomenting idiocy rather than participating in building this landmark legislation. Shame on the media for lending credibility to their pathetic antics. Thankfully, they are on the wrong side of history. Kudos to Obama and Pelosi for sticking their necks out."

March 28th, 2010 RIP WOXY
Today is Sunday and if you just tuned in to catch Trala-Lala you probably found out the bad news. WOXY, host and friend to the band and Trala, has been discontinued owing to the bankruptcy of their parent company. It's a damn shame as they were doing quite well and listenership had been on the rise. They were one of just a handful of powerful independent voices that had survived radio's general demise, but for the foreseeable future, they are off the air. We'll let you know if they find a new home. Trala-Lala is also without a home now, but we will be back certainly. Wait for news on that. It's a shame.

February 25th, 2010 THE TOUR HAS LAUNCHED
How's it going y'all?
Things are good here. We've a few days to catch our breath and finish tracking at the Pasta Sauce Factory. It's sad to pack it up, but nothing's permanent, right? But we should have a great record and some ridiculous videos to remember it by. We're making plans to get it mixed at the moment.
BUT NOW...
Our first ever national headline tour kicked off on Tuesday in the most logical place, Pittsburgh. We also did our first of ten shows opening for The Avett Brothers last night in Ohio - these shows are going to be really fun. But THEN we do our first lap of the US and Canada as a headliner, which is pretty exciting. It's been a long time and a lot of work but we're glad it's finally here. We'll also be touring with some great bands: Lissie and Annie and the Beekeepers on the east coat, Timbre Timbre and The Barr Brothers in the west, and Nathaniel Rateliff in the middle west and Timber TImbre back in the northeast.
AND OF COURSE...
We're excited to continue our Tra-La La-La Radio Hour on WOXY.com with special guests performing for us every week in the tour van or wherever else we happen to be recording. The theme for every upcoming week's show will be posted on twitter and facebook every Thursday previous. Feel free to suggest any songs that you think would fit the theme! Participate!
WHICH LEADS ME TO THIS....
If anyone wants to help out by postering and getting the word out in your city, this being our our first ever headlining tour in the US and Canada, we could use your help. If you'd like to, please email street@lowanthem.com and a fairy godmother will visit you at night and give you her blessings.
THAT'S ALL FOLKS!
See you at the shows.
Love as always,
Jeff, Ben, Jocie, Mat

January 30th, 2010 UNCUT
A note from Ben:
Linked here you'll find an amazing feature on the band just published in Uncut Magazine. The story Jaan Uhelszki put together rings with some of the highest artistic praise we could ever dream of, including bits from her conversation with Bruce Springsteen. However, in its mixed fixation on me, Chairman Miller, the article doesn't properly credit the sweat and tears, and the irreplaceable vision and direction of my friends Jeff and Jocie. We toiled in that darkness and confusion together - three of us madly focused. Without those two, OMG,CD could never have been conceived in a million years. That's how we work. That's our ethics. The article gets carried away with me and clouds or ignores their amazing contributions to what we are attempting. Nonetheless, it's an amazing article and an interesting portrait. My head spins to think that this little record was just an unknown home-recording 16 months ago.

January 27th, 2010 EUROPEAN TOUR STARTS TONIGHT
Ladies and gentlemen,
Today we begin our final tour of the UK and Europe for quite a while. As the tour begins we find ourselves in a moment of transition - transition between OMG,CD which has become quite familiar, and a vast amount of newly recorded material that remains open and illusive to us live. Transition also between our familiar trio sound to quartet arrangements with our new fourth. He is a talented multi-instrumentalist, and we're searching for new sounds to bring the songs to their fullest. The tour also brings the exciting challenge of the largest rooms we have ever headlined. It will be a trip of surprises for us and for you. It will be our fifth and final trip to the UK and Europe behind our release OMG,CD. It's been a wild year and great joy to play for you. Come join us one last time for new sounds, and old sounds - for these bittersweet euphoric ramblings. Tickets to a lot of the shows are still available. See here.
See you soon.
love,

December 16th, 2009 FROM BEN: PASTA SAUCE, GRATITUDE AND WINTER MIRTH
Hi Friends, this is Ben.
I've just landed back in Providence after our last show of 2009. After 16
months of touring, it is damn fine to be home where the Gansett Lager flows
like nectar, and the music rattles my brain. It's been a wild year and we can't
thank you enough for being a part of it. You have appeared in dirty dives and
ancient churches alike across the land for the divining of spirits and the
surrection of tried magic. It's been great fun. Frankly we're dumbfuddled
over some of the moments we've shared with you. And of course there've been
some graceless moments as well. Por exemplo, here we are at Austin City Limits
in the bottom of a murky abyss of fatigue and cynicism:
Yes, so anyhow. Though we're very proud of "Oh My God...," we do confess
that after a two-years rolling release we've had some of the Darwin beaten
out of us. We're wired to move on. And there's a plan for that. We'll keep
you abreast of its unfolding, but it all begins today when we take a tour of
a derelict and abandoned pasta sauce factory in Central Falls that may play
home to our new recording project. Yep, there is a new record coming. We have
been itching to make it for a years now, but with touring, needy reptiles and
Jeff's single A baseball schedule, it hasn't been easy. But now we're home
for the cold months and we couldn't be more excited to get to it. We'll be
updating y'all regularly on the website and such.
And right, another thing I should mention. Starting a few weeks ago, we've
taken a new friend into the project. We know, we know. We said we'd always
stay true to our post-dirge-metal power-trio vision. And yes, it's true, the
triangle is the most stable energy stucture, but you must see this little
man sing and dance before you start burning your flags. He's an old friend by
the name Mat Davidson, and he plays everything from accordian to musical saw to
anything that can be plucked, strucked, tickled, flossed, blown or belowed.
So before you start firing off hatemail to his home address (28 Cherry Pike /
Roanoke, VA 24001) give the new guy a chance. He's pictured here:
And oh yes, one more thing. Starting in January, we're going to be doing a
weekly radio hour on a station called WOXY based out of Austin, TX. Long
before Low Anthem, Jeff and I used to DJ the graveyard shift on WBRU. It'll
be fun to revisit. We're still open to zippy suggestions but as of now we're
calling it Trala-Lala Radio Hour and here's the idea. We're going to tape
our shows from the tour van or wherever we may be traveling. Every week will
feature a different theme based on God knows what and we'll have "in studio"
performances from guest artists if we can find any musicians who are cool
enough to record live in a Ford Econoline. Anyhow, more news on that soon to
come...
We wish you all a mirthful winter and new year. We'll be sending word from the
pasta sauce factory. We love you all very much,
Ben Knox Miller

They will also visit 6 Music for a session with George Lamb this morning at 11:40AM and an interview later with Steve Lamacq on Radio 2 where "To Ohio" has just been B Listed! That interview is at 4:30PM. After the Rough Trade In-Store, XFM will host the band at 11:30PM for two stripped down songs before we hop on the bus for the drive to Glastonbury!
Cheers

June 9th, 2009 PASTE: OMGCD IS "GORGEOUS CHAMBER FOLK"
Paste delivered a rave review of Oh My God, Charlie Darwin, giving the album a score of 90 and writing: "Whether soft or loud, these 12 songs are exquisite. The band says it labored over every instrumental addition, testing and discarding dozens of combinations. Maybe The Low Anthem should go easy on Charlie after all. It sounds like only the best version of each song survived."
